Company profile

Consideo GmbH was founded in 2005 as a spin-off of an international research project on the development of decision support systems. In addition to Franc Grimm and Kai Neumann, Prof. Dr. Thomas Martinetz, head of the Institute of Neuro- and Bioinformatics (INB) at the University of Lübeck, is a shareholder. The proximity to research is also an important asset for Consideo with regard to artificial intelligence and the further development of software.

It all started with the development of the software CONSIDEO MODELER, today iMODELER, which has won many awards (including the CeBIT Innovation Award several times) and has been regarded as a world leader according to VDI news.

The iMODELER enables people to record causal relationships together in the simplest possible way and then evaluate them either qualitatively or quantitatively. Qualitatively, a knowledge matrix shows where the levers are, where the risks are. Quantitatively, simulation makes it possible to show the probability of developments and effects. The PROCESS iMODELER also optimizes processes.

Through its heads, Franc Grimm and Kai Neumann, Consideo is also active as management consultants, moderators, coaches, trainers and scientists. The clients of the last almost 20 years include banks (Deutsche Bank, Julius Baer Bank etc.), automotive (VW, BMW, IAV, etc.), industry (Danone, BASF, Siemens, IABG, etc.), IT and consulting (Microsoft, PWC, SAP, etc.). organizations (European Patent Office, EEA, Asian Development Bank, etc.), many 'smaller' companies, counties, federal states and over 1,000 schools and universities worldwide.

The iMODELER is also used by a network of partners in a wide variety of areas. Consideo also relies on partners scientifically, and is usually part of larger consortia (Fraunhofer, IOER, ifeu, adelphi, Ecologic Research Institute, IZT, Z-Punkt, UFZ, etc.).

Mission statement

We help people to recognize the complicated and also the complex relationships and to make the right decisions on the way to a consequently better world. We offer the powerful software iMODELER, systemic thinking (e.g. the KNOW-WHY method), consulting, training and coaching.

We oppose the sovereignty of interpretation and mere gut feeling and act as rational beings. Ideology is not what the other person says, but what is not reproducible, cannot be justified. The causal relationships that we work out together with our customers are correct until an aspect is missing or an causal relationship is wrong. It is so-called abductive logic.

Our goal is also for our customers to understand the interrelationships in the long term, even without us, in the spirit of a learning organization - with the right tools in a culture of reflection.

Competencies

Complex relationships play a role in all kinds of areas - in companies, politics and in the private sphere. That is why Franc Grimm and Kai Neumann are also active in many subject areas and with a wealth of methods. From strategy development to process optimization to creative product development. But quality management, change management, organizational development, multi-project management, asset allocation, foresight or risk management are also Consideo's experiences. The role was either that of scientists, consultants, coaches, moderators or trainers. But both are also on the road as lecturers, speakers and book authors.

Franc Grimm is Managing Director of Consideo GmbH. Franc Grimm was born in 1971, degrees: Economics at the University of Kassel, interdisciplinary supplementary studies "Innovation Management taking into account technology and product assessment" at the Chair of "Technology Impact and Innovation Research" at the University of Kassel; Lund University International Masters Programme in Environmental Science (Focus on Sustainability) – www.lumes.lu.se.

Franc's focus is on business aspects of corporate strategy, systemic regional development, workshops on citizen participation, democracy education in schools, and the design of funding projects. But Franc also played a decisive role in the scientific topics listed below.

Kai Neumann is an international scientist, trainer, coach, moderator, consultant, author, former lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Lübeck, as well as founder, shareholder, member of the management board and head of development at Consideo GmbH.

Kai studied process engineering at the Bergedorf University of Applied Sciences and switched to Applied Cultural Studies at the University of Lüneburg as a combination of economics, social sciences and natural sciences, including in the Cybernetic Corporate Management research group. Topic of the master's thesis: Complexity Management - Man vs. Machine. From this, Kai Neumann has developed the KNOW-WHY way of thinking, which is particularly practical in life and business, as an alternative to other systems theories. Methodologically, Kai offers exploratory, participatory, qualitative cause-and-effect modelling as well as quantitative modelling of even very large simulation models (e.g. System Dynamics, Theory of Constraints).

As a management consultant, Kai offers systemic strategy development, project management, process optimization, product development, change management, risk management, etc.

To date, scientifically, topics such as the global energy transition, global resource use, alternative measures of prosperity, social transformation, global e-mobility, information technologies and artificial intelligence, global land use and nutrition, political strategies in South America, food security and bioeconomy in Africa, biodiversity in national and corporate reporting, or drinking water hygiene in Europe have been represented. The role of narratives and memes was also worked out in projects.

The publications of Kai and Franc can be found here: Papers | Consideo iModeler - Consideo iModeler; Books - Consideo iModeler and http://www.ilsa.de/KaiVeroeffentlichungen.html

Development

Consideo or Franc or Kai are members of various associations and associations, including the International System Dynamics Society, its German branch DGSD, the Society for International Development (SID), the Association of Psychological Sciences (APS), etc.

Many methods include systemic thinking or cause-and-effect modeling in some form, which is why Consideo is in constant exchange with relevant experts - whether SixSigma, Neurolinguistic Programming, Scrum, Harvard Negotiation Model, Theory of Constraint or Dynamic Strategy Maps as an extension of the Balanced Scorecard.

Consideo has published a number of papers on different methods (https://www.consideo.de/papers.html) and trains them in workshops.

Responsibility

Consideo takes responsibility, from fair wages to office space to the way of traveling. We make our actions public via our For a Better World score. It is currently 74 (https://for-a-better-world.de/t/share?name=Consideo&type=3 accessed 26.9.2024).
